Strategic direction for legal leaders

SANDSTORM

Bringing clarity for law firms and legal departments in a time of disruption

Wind-swept sand dunes in a desert storm

01 — The moment

Is the legal profession caught in a sandstorm?

Artificial intelligence is not approaching — it is already here. Changing how legal work is done, who does it, what it costs, and what clients will pay for.

The challenge is actually seeing what is in the future and moving towards it.

02 — Strategic clarity

A clear approach for your situation.

01

Understand

Understand the disruption that AI brings to your business model, firm structure, revenue types, and the way your teams work.

02

Translate

Translate uncertainty into a firm-specific or department-specific approach. Technology, pricing, ownership, structure, profits.

03

Navigate

Navigate through a fast-moving market without losing sight of where your firm is going. Stay on course in a rapidly developing landscape.

03 — The intelligence

Challenge and think.

Sandstorm is supported by a thinktank of industry experts who follow the latest developments in AI, legal services, and professional management. The counsel you receive is continuously tested against the frontier.

Portrait of Frans Post

Frans Post

Founder, Sandstorm

Frans implemented strategy and change as a CFO/COO in global law firms including Clifford Chance, Olswang, Mourant, and De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek. Thirty years' experience in firms in Europe, US and UK. Frans has been a partner at legal consultancy Venturis. He now helps firms deal with the impact of AI on their business model. A critical mind, a broad outlook and a different view on how law firms actually work on the business side.

04 — Perspective

Judgment makes the difference.

Sandstorm works together with the firm's senior teams on the important questions: how to read the market developments, understand the impact on the business model, adapt and focus the firm (or legal function), update revenue and pricing models and how to work through the change.

05 — Focus

How will the law firm of the future look? What is the model?

The question is what a law firm looks like five years from now. Firms are already moving, but the real test is whether they are prepared to rethink the business model itself. As work once billed by the hour is taken over by AI, value will be created elsewhere — in judgment, outcomes, relationships, and new forms of service. Pricing must change with it. So must the thinking. That's where Sandstorm can help.

06 — How we work

Your firm's questions. Our views and experience. Into the future.

Our work is discreet, rigorous, and designed to leave leadership teams with a practical direction — not a deck that gathers dust.

Three modes of engagement, each designed to move thinking forward.

01

Keynote

The talk that reframes the conversation for partnership meetings, retreats, and conferences.

02

Workshop

A way to get from awareness to alignment: surfacing the real questions and addressing them.

03

Advisory

An independent thinker in the room for managing partners, boards, and general counsel.
